Consider This If Your Plants Aren't Growing
A few months ago I bought something that changed the game for me and my plants.
Before I bought it I had no idea how much light my plants were getting but now that's changed. Yes, I bought a light meter.
I opened this thing up and was expecting to see most of my green friends were living in medium light at least.
This was far from the truth.
Most of them were in low light. Even ones near a window! I couldn't believe it.
Anything under 500 foot candles is low light, between 500-1000 is medium light, and above 1000 is high light.
You can normally chose between LUX and FC on these things, which are more or less the same thing and I just stick to reading FC.
A lot of mine were getting readings as low as 100. Not good.
This is when I decided to up my grow light game and I've now got 5 and counting in the house. It makes a big difference.
You might have seen my fireplace mantle in my videos and this was getting a very low reading. I stuck a SANSI grow light there and we're now in medium light. Much better.
Light meters that read foot candles might not be perfect but they give you a steer on how much light the plants in your home are getting.
I've not used them but apparently there are even apps that can give you a reading.
It's surprising how much of a difference a few feet make!
Consider adding one to your Xmas list if you're not sure why your plants aren't growing much.
